Can you profit from cutting MDF wood for a subwoofer box with the help of a laser engraving?
I work at an engraving company. We have a laser machine, directly by 2 inches of hardwood can be in two passes. I'm planning for a custom-build a subwoofer box and just now thinking how easy it can be would draw the designs in CAD and to use the laser to precisely cut the pieces. How will the MDF handle the heat? If I had to use low-power and multiple cuts to do? But I see a problem cutting angle on the edge * The 3 / 4 "page *. I can always at least use it to cut the circle perfect!
Kyleryantoth Hello, We have a 60W laser and a series of cutting templates from MDF. The biggest problem with laser cutting MDF, and plywood for that matter, is the glue that The combination of material, not wood. When laser cutting of these materials, which I highly recommend the use of wood instead of using all natural binder of the heavy chemical Adhesives found in the MDF and mats you get at most hardware stores. Check with your local lumber yards for the better materials. When laser cutting thick MDF You try not to cut into 2 is like 2 "hardwoods, because again it is not the forest that is the problem, but the glue. I would go 5-7 with a slightly higher Speeds suggest. The glue, such as cutting thick acrylic will re-bond, if cut too hot too slow. You will also get too much flare-up, if not properly be carried out. Special Features: How will the MDF handle the heat? Too much heat at a very slow speed, the torch-wood. Plan on many passes at 100% Performance, but higher speeds (approximately 20%) -25% run speed. If I had to use low-power and make more cuts? No and Yes.
